Mary Edmondson 1812

~~ An Antique Reproduction ~~

Mary Edmondson’s 1812 sampler is packed with wonderfully naïve motifs including flowering plants, birds, fir trees, hearts, a crown, a long “patchwork” dog, and a little miss with a blue face.  Mary worked her sampler with cotton, stitching over two threads on coarsely woven linen.  The reproduction corrects for age-related thread loss but otherwise faithfully replicates Mary’s stitches.  Stitched on 30 count linen with DMC flosses.
