~~ An Antique Reproduction ~~
Worked entirely in cross stitch, Blanche Wagstaff’s redwork sampler is orderly and pleasing with rows of letters and numbers separated by a variety of decorative horizontal bands. But it is the bottom, simply and charmingly stitched with floral and vine motifs, a crown, her name and Xmas 1877, that draws the eye. One wonders if Blanche presented this sampler to her parents on Christmas as a token of her affection and evidence of her diligent needlework.
Worked on Weeks Dye Works 30 count “Linen” linen. Stitch count: 135w x 200h. Finished size: 9”w x 13.5”h. Original sampler is shown in last photo above.
Pattern includes color photo, professional cross stitch chart, WDW floss color with DMC alternate, and optional aging instructions.
