A sweet, little redwork sampler that combines cross, Algerian eyelet, and four sided stitches in a most pleasing way. Miss Mensing’s stitches were not always perfect. Some letters float slightly above the others, her spacing is at times irregular, and there is the occasional missed stitch. I have charted these as they are. Imperfections (if we dare to call them that) notwithstanding, it is charming in its simplicity and sincerity. Finished size: 7.5”w x 7.25”h on 35 count linen.
Pattern includes color photo, professional cross stitch chart with floss colors for GAST and DMC, aging instructions, and directions for hemming your sampler. Stitch count: 136w x 132h. Model stitched on 35 count WDW “Linen” linen. GAST’s Pomegranate thread used throughout.
The original sampler (pictured in the second photo above) is from my personal collection.
