Mary Edmondson’s 1812 sampler is packed with wonderfully naïve and folky motifs including flowering plants, birds, fir trees, hearts, a crown, a long “patchwork” dog, and a little miss with a blue face. Mary worked her sampler with cotton, stitching over two threads on coarsely woven linen. She employed pulled threadwork to create a border around the whole. The reproduction corrects for age-related thread loss but otherwise faithfully replicates Mary’s stitches, excepting the pulled thread border.
Stitched on 30 count linen with DMC flosses. Stitch count: 113w x 116h.
Pattern includes color photo, professional cross stitch chart with DMC floss colors, and general instructions.
