Susanna Pratt was born in Graffham, Huntingdonshire, England in 1834. Her lovely sampler, stitched when she was just 10 years old, features an uppercase alphabet, butterflies, birds, dogs, potted flowers, a towering fruit basket, diamond and floral bands, an arcaded honeysuckle border, and a religious verse. The colors are primarily soft pinks, greens, browns, and cream.
The reproduction was stitched on 30 count Weeks Dye Works Beige linen using Gentle Arts flosses. Stitches include cross, satin, and back stitch. The majority of the design is stitched over two linen threads, except for the verse and Susanna’s name and date, which are stitched over one.
Pattern includes color photo, professional cross stitch chart and floss colors for GAST and DMC. Stitch count: 222w x 247h. Finished size: 14.5”w x 16.5”h on 30 ct linen.
