Martha Brown is reproduced from an antique in my personal collection. The original is the second image above.
Smitten with marking samplers, I chose to reproduce Martha Brown’s for its simple alphabets and horizontal bands and sweet, randomly placed motifs. Martha worked her sampler on linen with an uneven weave (20w x 24h) using blue, green, cream, and soft brown threads. Sadly I don’t know more about Miss Brown, but I hope you find much pleasure in working her simple stitches.
Stitch count: 103w x 93h. Model stitched on 30 count Weeks Dye Works “Beige” linen using Gentle Arts threads.
Pattern includes color photo, professional cross stitch chart and floss colors for GAST and DMC.
