Autumn on Marigold Lane was created as the result of a “Stitcher’s Challenge”, in which Jennie Lynn Schmitt (Appleseed Prim) challenged our Samplermakers group to create our own designs using at least two of the many delightful autumn motifs she provided. We were to choose our own colors, linens, and threads….
Jennie Lynn’s fat pot of flowers was one of my favorite motifs and Autumn on Marigold Lane grew around that. Soon two tall black houses sprung up with a bit of fence between…. A large sunflower grew in a pot in the side yard… Two old crows alighted on the chimneys and a pair of wee black cats wandered down to see the beautiful marigolds…
Heartfelt thanks to Jennie Lynn for so graciously allowing me to use several of her motifs in this design!
Stitched on 30 ct Broomstick Brown linen from R&R Reproductions using one strand of Gentle Arts floss over two linen threads. Design includes cross and back stitch. Stitch count: 121w x 112h. DMC conversions included.
