~~ An Antique Reproduction ~~
Worked entirely in cross stitch, Ann Powell’s sampler is wonderfully folky with rows of alphabets and numbers across the top and an array of motifs filling the bottom. The star of Ann’s work is the central motif of the tall lady with ribbons in her hair, holding a little purse. Miss Powell dated her work June 11th but did not include the year. It was likely completed in the first half of the nineteenth century. The reproduction is stitched on 32 count Lakeside Linen’s Vintage Autumn Gold Double-Dyed linen with The Gentle Art’s threads.
In addition to the sampler, I’ve worked a little pinkeep with seam binding ribbon ruffle (last photo). You get both charts in this pattern!
Pattern includes color photo, two charts with floss colors and instructions for making the pinkeep. Sampler stitch count: 106w x 181h (6.5”w x 11.5”h). Pinkeep stitch count: 48w x 85h. Finished pinkeep measures 3.5”w x 6”h.
